Member Pledge

Last Updated: October 3, 2025

Hatch Clayworks is not for everyone.

Bold, i know. But hear me out. Our studio is built on kindness, trust, care, and independence. If these values resonate with you, you’ll find a welcoming and inspiring community here and, hooray,  Hatch Clayworks is likely a good place for you.

By becoming a member, I pledge to uphold the values that make Hatch possible:

Kindness is non-negotiable.
  • I am kind, I speak kindly, and I assume good intentions of others.

  • I speak up against discrimination, meanness, or unkind behavior.

  • I help create a studio where everyone feels safe, respected, and supportive.

  • I only offer critique or feedback of others when it’s requested

The studio runs on trust.
  • I treat shared tools, materials, and space with care, no matter their material value.

  • I never touch, move, or use another person’s work without permission.

  • I act with integrity, even when no one is watching, because that is what allows us independent access.

A shared space deserves shared care.
  • I leave the studio cleaner than I found it.

  • I pay it forward, because I know we all miss a spot sometimes, and I benefit when others cover for me.

Membership means independence.
  • I am comfortable working on my own without instruction.

  • I use equipment safely and responsibly.

  • I ask for help early if safety, kilns, or the studio could be at risk.

  • I accept the risks of firing and take ownership of my results.

By signing this,  I affirm this pledge and commit to upholding the values of Hatch Clayworks. I understand that membership is a privilege built on trust, and that my actions directly shape the community we are creating together.
